ICE POP BAG

Water or cream-based mixes that may include fruit and visible pieces. Typical bag width of 4 to 8 cm for content of 80 to 240 cc (3 to 8 fl oz).

SACHET FOR PREPARED FOOD

Cold or cooked preparations of dressings and sauces for salads or frozen food. Typical width of 4 to 8 cm (1.6 to 3.1 in) for contents of 30 to 120 g (1.1 to 4.2 oz).

PASTRY BAG

Bakeable jam, creams, chocolate coating, and fruit filling for bakery use. 1 kg (2.2 lb) presentation with diagonal seals, standard width of 10.4 cm (4.1 in) and length of 38 cm (15 in).

DAIRY PRODUCTS

Fully automated with FESTO’s global supplier pneumatics, removable electric cabinet with hermetic sealing pins.

WAL902 PASTRY BAG WITH CONICAL TIPS

High-performance machine for filling conical-tipped bags, forms a bag of either polyethylene or laminated material for hot filling preparations for bakery use. The transverse seals are applied at a 45° angle to form an exit tip.
Integrated piston filler with disc valves typically serving 1 kg (2.2 lb) in bags with 10.4 cm (4.1 in) width and up to 40 cm (15.7 in) length. Anti-drip dosing in two modes: positive closure and suction.
The standard version is fully automated with FESTO pneumatics, stepper motor, and Siemens fault diagnosis logic.

CASE STUDY

Waldo presented a new model of a packaging machine at Expopack Mexico 2007 for filling up to 5 liters of yogurt in a bag, as an eco-friendly and economical alternative to bucket packaging. The machine was not used until 2012 when it was retrofitted for use in food services. Orders began even though this particular machine remained in reserve.

THE CHALLENGE

In early 2020, a company in Alabama requested a machine for 9 lb of Gumbo, a southern dish with broth, rice, vegetables, crab, and shrimp.

We didn't know this!

THE SOLUTION

The client sent a sample product for evaluation, but it spoiled due to customs delays. Months later, at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2021, the client arrived with frozen products in a cooler, determined to make it work. Waldo offered to retrofit the 2007 machine to fill the Gumbo.

Work was done on the filling system to control dosing and shrimp passage, tested with cooked beans and controlled yeast, then shipped to the destination. The machine worked perfectly on launch day, surprising everyone, including the director. It not only handled Gumbo but also various regional dishes in 2 to 9 lb doses.

In 2023, the company ordered a second machine to meet its growing demand.

THE RESULTS

The 2007 prototype not only paved the way in foodservice but also managed to be part of a high-complexity project thanks to its modular design.

This demonstrates that Waldo machines remain relevant over time, with machines over twenty years old still working today.
